Few Chinese have not heard of the 24 Festive Drums Troupe in Johor Bahru. But where did they originate from? Has anyone ever wondered about their origins?
The Concept

Hope to see him stand on the stage again…our teacher Tan Hooi Song

It’s been 14 years since schooldays, and yet memories of those “good old days” are fresh in my mind. I remember my 6 years in the Foon Yew Choir - those 6 wonderful years! Our guide and mentor was Teacher Tan. Teacher Tan is a very friendly and humorous person. He was very active in promoting music education as well as an active participant in the Malaysian Chinese community’s cultural activities. He also composed a number of theme songs for some large-scale activities. I am a fan of all his songs, especially a choral piece named “风中口占”.
